Original description: Tachycines coreanus
Yamasaki 1969 Bull. nat. Sci. Mus. Tokyo 12: 616, figs. 1-2.
Material examined. Holotype: l♂
(immature adult), Seong-gul Cave, l. v. l966, S. UENO leg. Paratype:
l♂ (immature adult), Chilsibri-gul Cave, 9. iv. l966, S. UENO leg. Body
light yellowish brown, with brown mottles. Pronotum with a broad
median brownish band on the disc, forming on each side a dark spot
at the median portion in the paratype; anterior and posterior margins
of lateral lobe also with brown band. Mesonotum with two brown spots
along the dorso-anterior margin; posterior margin of lateral lobe
brown. Metanotum, first and second abdominal tergites each with
two large brown spots on the dorso-anterior margin. Other abdominal
tergites almost brown. Basal half of hind femora with about seven
dark slender lines on the external side, which are arranged radially
though slight; ventral side of hind femora dark. Fastigium
of vertex feebly convex. Occiput pubescent. Pronotum, in profile,
gradually becoming narrower to the anterior margin than to the posterior
margin; anterior margin roundly curved; posterior margin strongly
convex. Lateral lobe of mesonotum convex ventro-posteriorly. Front
femora with eight (left front leg of the paratype), thirteen (right
front leg internal margin; ventro-external margin without any tooth;
apex with an external spine, and an immobile, short, internal spinule.
Front tibiae with three to four spines on the ventral margin; apex
with a short median and a short external spines above, two longer
spurs below, of which the external one is slightly longer than the
internal, and a spinule between the ventral ones. Front metatarsus
and the second segment of front tarsi with a row (partially rows)
of short spines. Middle femora without any tooth on the ventral
margin; apex with an external and an internal long spines. Middle
tibiae with three to four spines on the ventral margin; apex with
two short spurs above, two longer spurs below, and a spinule between
the ventral spurs. Hind femora with one to four teeth on the ventro-internal
margin; ventro-external margin without any tooth; apex with a small
internal tooth. Hind tibiae with 47-54 spines (51 in number on an
average) on each dorsal margin, disposed in increasing series as
follows:

* Bold letters show the series in which the last
spine is obviously stouter than in the other series.
Apex
of each hind tibia with two short immobile spinules above and two
longer immobile ones below; both the external and internal sides
of apex with two long spurs each, the dorso-internal spur being
longer than the ventro-internal one but shorter than twice the length
of the latter and slightly shorter than hind metatarsus. Hind metatarsus
with a tooth at the dorsal apex; ventral margin with a row (partially
rows) of short spines. Male supra-anal plate triangular
and blunt at the apex. Male subgenital plate roundish trapezoidal;
posterior margin somewhat curving proximad. Measurements.
The first one of the two measurements show those of the holotype
and the second ones those of the paratype. Body,
l0.9 ㎜ and 12.3 ㎜; pronotum, 4.5 ㎜ and 4.7 ㎜; front femur, 7.9
㎜ and 8.3 ㎜; front tibia, 7.8 ㎜ and 8.0 ㎜; front tarsus, 6.2
㎜ and 6.7 ㎜; middle femur, 7.3 ㎜ and 7.6 ㎜; middle tibia, 7.3
㎜ and 8.0 ㎜; middle tarsus, 5.5 ㎜ and 5.9 ㎜; hind femur, l5.5
㎜ and 15.2 ㎜; hind tibia, 16.0 ㎜ and l5.l ㎜; hind tarsus, 6.6
㎜ and 7.0 ㎜; cercus, 6.6 ㎜ and 7.0 ㎜. Notes.
The present new species is distinguished from all the other known
cave forms of the genus Tachycines by the presence of a certain
number of distinct teeth on the ventro-internal margin of front
femur, and by the long dorso-internal spur at the apex of each hind
tibia. The latter nearly attains the length of metatarsus.
